New Windows on Willesden Green

Glorious Beginnings

The Architecture Foundation

In 2011, The Architecture Foundation launched New Windows on Willesden Green, a regeneration project to revive and improve Willesden High Road through an advent calendar of shop improvements and window displays.

Commissioned by The Architecture Foundation for Brent Council and Design for London, we were partnered with "Glorious Beginnings", a Christian bookshop. We worked closely and sensitively with the shop owner to design new window displays and make improvements to the shop front. Our direction was to extend the work beyond the window displays, with improvements that would have impact long after the Christmas period.

Our design included a new identity and colour scheme, reviving the shop front with a hand-painted sign and window graphics. We installed window display boxes for the shop's products, creating scenes within the boxes to bring the Christmas theme to life, but ensuring a flexible system that would be easily adaptable by the shopkeeper after the festive season. In addition, we created bookmarks, posters, gift tags and canvas bags to help promote the shop.
